General Figures



  • India lost $123 million in black money during 2001-2010 , a US based organisation said.But China lost $2.74 trillion in the same period.
  • India 2012 :
    R    epo rate unchanged at 8 percent.    Reverse repo stays at 7 percent.Cash reserve ratio stays at 4.25 percent.
  • 3rd quarter Monetary policy of RBI : Repo rate : 7.75 % and CRR = 4%
  • For 2011-12 : 
    • GDP growth to 6.2 per cent 
    • GDP  at current prices is estimated at Rs.83.53 lakh crore
    • The per capita income in real terms (at 2004-05 prices) is estimated at Rs.38,037.
  • GDP Growth India for 2012-2013 :
    First Q1 : 5.5%
    Second Q2 : 5.3%
  • GDP of India : 1.85 Trillion.
  • India's Total External Debt at Sep 2012 end : US$ 365.3 billion ,increase due to higher NRI deposits, short-term debt and commercial  borrowings.  
  • Government (Sovereign) external debt stood at US$ 81.5 billion, (22.3 per cent of total external debt) at end-September 2012
  • For July-September 2012,current account deficit (CAD) :5.4 per cent of (GDP). 
  • 8 core Industries : Coal,Crude Oil , Natural gas,Petroleum refinery products,Fertilizers,Steel,Cement and Electricity.
  • The combined Index of 8 core Industries was 144.9 in November 2012 with a growth rate of 1.8% compared to their 7.8% growth in November 2011.
  • The combined Index was 154.6 in December 2012 with a growth rate of 2.6% compared to their 4.9% growth in December 2011.  The decline in growth in December, 2012 was on account of negative growth witnessed in the production of Coal, Natural Gas and Fertilizers. 
  • The annual rate of inflation, based on monthly WPI, stood at 7.18% (Provisional) for the month of December, 2012 (over December, 2011)

  • 2013 World Press Freedom Index : India ranks 140 out of 179
    • The list is topped by three European countries – Finland, Netherlands and Norway.
    • At the bottom of the list are Turkmenistan, North Korea and Eritrea.
