Raman Effect
Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman (7 November, 1888 – 21 November, 1970), was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930 for his work on the scattering of light, ‘Raman Effect’ - that when light traverses a transparent material, some of the deflected light changes in wave length.

C.V Raman was the second Indian citizen to win a Nobel Prize for his work on the scattering of light. He is also the first non-white to win the Nobel in the field of science.Raman effect is a pivotal discovery in the domain of Quantum Physics as it gave conclusive experimental proof to the quantum nature of light.
